Finding Self-Worth

Controls one’s own happiness?
I do.

Yet, there is more to it.

And.

Yet, there is not.

Why DO we fight it so
when the results are
happiness?

Yes, Poetry Tumble Too, finally continues, in spite of work to be done, kitchens to be packed, blogs and books to be read, calls to be made. (Oops, consider that my reminder!)

But I must wait to begin the next poem in the series with the simple line, “happiness”, for poetry and blogging has grabbed valuable time, it was happiness made, but now, the happiness to be made is self-worth in having gotten the job done… so I must start it to get it done!

Do you make your own happiness more often than not?

Within Paperwork Forest

Within Paperwork Forest I sit,
willing to be unfound

for hours spent
means covered ground

and a moment’s sanity,
thus bells will sound.

About MP… and those just like her

Harmony

Hey, MP, I bet you wish these guys were in your front yard. Wait, they might be…. This poem’s about you. But lucky for the world, there are a few more of you out there, so this is for them, too!

MP

She took in
when others
cast out
faltered
could not handle

She did
what others
could not
did not
would not

She acted
and the world
is better because.

Some days even those who brave to act feel they did not do enough or enough right – but she has, she did, she will do it again, just as she did – again. The results will not always be the same, but imperfect results sure as heck beat the alternative. And one more person in this world felt loved – more than before.

Anonymous she remains to all but those who witnessed. I hope you are all lucky enough to know an anonymous whose heart acts.

Music and I Have a History – of Sorts

After American Idol tonight (and I did miss having Allison there! I’m listening to her and to Adam now.) I sat down to write why music brings tears to my eyes when it is either played or performed well; why sometimes it overwhelms me in joy or sadness, why it controls the controller. I’ve never been able to express it – and I don’t think I did this time either… Not into poetry, click down to the videos below, I love them, one is calming, one filled with real life emotion.

Music History

It is my history,
music played or sung well
takes hold of my
emotions
has its way
leaves me spent

matters not
joy, sadness, apathy
it all pulls tugs jerks
surrounds tightens expels
captures then discards my soul,

I am saddled by knowledge
my world is incomplete
without musician/singers
for
such sounds will
never
float hammer spout
shout fall cascade from
my
vocal chords
fingertips lungs….

could that be why
so many days
I sit in silence,
shoulder TV’s distant drone?
why once music breaks through
it is allowed to repeat
until my eyes refuse to follow
commands of heart?

why I
can not
form words to express
music’s power
to charm heat escalate
cajole calm support my soul?

Women (in Memoriam)

Tentative Red

Women (in Memoriam)

Perhaps
Nature’s tentative reds
are more than just beautiful.

Perhaps
they are the flush of heated tears
brought by hearts’ grief
bonded with
the blush
that left cheeks
when souls went onward

a living memorial
to all women who dared be human.
