3WW - Greg Mouths Off

Bone over at If You Only Read One Blog This Year has this meme, 3 Word Wednesday. Each week, he posts three (or more) random words., in his words, “Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything.” He says many “fun and interesting people will visit” our blogs if we play along. How can we not? (And he is right!)

This week’s words are:
Determined
Pajamas
Yield

I bring you into the story as Greg mouths off about his best bud, Jeremy.

Jeremy is determined to get her in bed with him. Why he wants her so badly that he would buy designer pajamas is a freakin’ mystery to me. I mean it is not like he’s going to marry the woman and, unlike our man Jake, he’s still young enough to hit the bars and still get up and face the world - and be on time for work.

I understand about not letting the ultimate conquest pass him by and all that, but, man, the rules used to be simple, just get her drunk or charm the pants off her. What happened to the days when we could hammer all day on site, some chick would see our shirtless bods, we’d flash a smile, and then hammer her all night? I don’t like new rules, new rules are for the dude on TV. Heck new rules are for some young kid stuck in school staring at a math book in between flashing those smiles at little chickadees.

Jeremy should just yield on this chick, let her drive on down the street, then just do a u-turn back to the old fashioned way, the woman plays by his rules.

Y’all, check it out over there, what a variety of uses we all come up with for these words — and Bones is a great writer, so the site is worth a visit just for him.

He better not come round my neck of the woods cause I’ll be the one doing the hammering. *ferocious glare*

You changed your blog again????? *thud*

    Rose

    xo

Rose, I bet you would do the hammering! You tell ‘em! You don’t have to keel over anymore - on this one — I’m not changing templates, tweaking maybe, but not changing! This is the more refined me that y’all don’t see as much. Thanks for bringing a smile.

This is interesting with a reflective tone. I like the questions and the underlying dilemma.

Gautami, thanks for mentioning the reflective tone, I’m glad you picked up on it. Reflection is such a part of me, though, I have a hard time not including it, but I like to anyway.

oh,, this was excellent… rules are rules after all!!!!!!

You’re right, Paisley, rules are rules, after all, well put. Exactly what my character was thinking. Thanks for enjoying it.

Been around more than a few ‘Gregs’ in my time. Still work with some, come to think of it. Rules are made to be broken and anytime a woman wants to use a hammer, I got the nail.

Brian, I’m with you on breaking those rules. I’ll remember where to find the nails if someone needs them and I run out. Sometimes the worst part of being 57 - is knowing that things have not changed in the world as much as in my own world.

First, I really like the design of your blog :)

Second, this sooo reminded me of talking to one of my best guy friends… I love how guys perceive one another and the stupidity (in their minds) that they go through to get the girl.

TC - I really like it, too, I think I will keep it! If I reminded you of a conversation, I pulled it off better than I hoped. Thanks.

I enjoyed this little trip into the unfathomable depths of a male mind - some males anyway.

Hey, Paul, I got a kick out of your add on, “some males anyway”. I’ll vouch that it isn’t all of them. . . but the others are out there, still, forever. But they are interesting to write about, I’ll give them that.

Really fascinating perspective from the man’s point of view — I really enjoyed this a lot! Well done and very believable — insightful too!
    :)

Clare, that makes me so happy that you found it believable. I have just been experimenting recently writing from a man’s perspective in short stories, not always sure if it is believable.

This reminds me a promo for some new TV show I saw, where some guy says, “Men are the new women.” Ugh.

    LOVE the new template Marcia!

Bone, Glad you LOVE the template! Gee, I wrote a promo, grin, how cool is that. . .

Miss the old blog, by the way…

    Jake’s a jerk, but well-written.

Jerks abound, Gay. Thanks for the “well-written” comment. My old blog is still out there, in its green glory, waiting for someone to tumble onto it and stay a bit.

Greg is a jerk. We’ve all known him though. You captured him.

Love the design of your blog. Very understated.

Annie, thank you, I fell in love with it. It did look better when you saw it with the little logo in the top, rather than my seagull, but I am going to have someone extract him from the sky for me so I can insert him without the sky contrast. Greg is a jerk. Will he always be?
