Chinese Ink Challenge – Slow Motion September

Note: I will catch up on responding to comments, etc., this weekend or Monday, 3 day weekend and I really have strained my eyes today and yesterday and…

A poem in response to Michelle’s video prompt: Chinese Ink Challenge at Poefiti. The video for the challenge is at the bottom of her page. You have until Sunday to write. Please do. Note the “he” in the following is not a person, but a reference. I wish no one to misconstrue that I am referring to Leon….

Slow Motion September

I watch

what I cannot understand
I feel

what I wish not to feel
I beg

that the remote controller
fast forward past the shapes
falling, flailing,
even as the words

form in my heart,
he won’t

he will let each flailing arm,
each leg running in thin air

play
frame by frame in full HD on a
life sized screen

he will

let each silent scream, each
life flashing in high speed for them,
slow to half time or

pause, rewind, pause
absorb the horror

for me
to feel

How is that
going to
fix the world?

It
is
not a horror
I created?

I suppose terrorism is on my mind today, as it has been brought up because of incidents in the Seattle area with the ferry system. That and some are starting to blog about it as September nears….

My words are my own, please do not copy them. Thank you.

Be safe my friend and have a great weekend. I don’t watch the news because who needs constant reminders?

I go in spells, Rose, when I ignore the news. Recently I got so tired of the violence, I wanted to be an ostrich. Then I realized that was not a solution, nor could I forget what I read anyway,, but I still try to be an ostrich every now and then.

  2. Marcia-

Good Morning! Sorry it took so long for me to reply.

Thank you for your poem entry in my Chinese Ink challenge. Your poem turned out nice. I think everyone who’s participated in my challenge has done well. I love seeing what everyone comes up with. Thanks again.

Also, thank you for your comments on my 3WW poem.

    Have a nice day.

    Michelle

Thanks, Michelle, for both visiting mine and issuing the challenge, it is fascinating to read what everyone comes up with, we are all so different.

I really like how the brevity of each line highlights the feeling of slow motion and of pausing. You incorporated the remote control well and enhanced the impact of the horrific event.

Liz, I’m really glad that the slow motion and pausing was evident… Thank you.

Beautiful poem. I like how Liz described the similarity of the remote control and pauses. The deep feeling of it is understood so deeply.

Shelby, I wish I hadn’t felt the need to write it, though. Thank you for the comment.
