3WW - Life, after children’s bedtime

October 31, 2007 | Filed Under 3WW, Poetry | 11 Comments

Bone keeps on prompting for 3WW, even when we don’t all show… I’m back, I did ones I missed, but I will post them later, just to say I did… but today’s words were:

phone
stumbled
windy

Life, after children’s bedtime

one phone rang
hand shot out to answer

two feet stumbled
over themselves
in sleep,

It’s too windy
what was that noise?
I’m scared

I have to go
was murmured into phone
a twinge of longing
for his voice shoved
with effort back inside

two arms reached out to
pull tired child into arms,
it was only the wind,
would you like to hear a story
about the wind?

Halloween poem, or two

A Pleiades:

Halloween Scene

haunted mansions await
hungry children peek through
high fences lean then sway
heavens hide in darkness
home fires burn behind scenes
hellfire and brimstone boil
horror crouches, then leaps.

A Fib:

Costumes

To
be
or not
in makeup
matters not when old,
ability to scare does.

Evolution of Man, a poetry tumble continuation

October 23, 2007 | Filed Under Poetry, Poetry Tumble | Leave a Comment

A continuation of Poetry Tumble, started from one line of a special poem by a special poet. From that point I took the last line of my poem and made it the first line of another poem, not as a story continuation, but a new poem that stands alone. To see whose poem I borrowed (with permission) a line from — and to read the entire collection in order, click on Poetry Tumble tab at the top of the blog.

Evolution of man

Perhaps, it was all of this or none.
Would one alternative
outweigh conscious thought?
Would one grin
undermine hardened walls
built within?
Would one false word
negate all truth
that came before?
Would one outstretched hand
trip rather than lift?
Would one misstep
change future movement?
Would each of these
displace the other?

Perhaps.
Perhaps not.
