A continuation of Poetry Tumble, started from one line of a special poem by a special poet. From that point I took the last line of my poem and made it the first line of another poem, not as a story continuation, but a new poem that stands alone. To see whose poem I borrowed (with permission) a line from — and to read the entire collection in order, click on Poetry Tumble tab at the top of the blog.
Perhaps Not
Perhaps not,
I said,
child’s expectant eyes
dropped almost to his knees
Hello inside,
I said,
positive thinking
was the preferred response!
Perhaps, instead,
I said,
child’s downfallen mouth
turned its corners up.
