Upturned Corners, poetry still tumbles

November 7, 2007 | Filed Under Poetry, Poetry Tumble

A continuation of Poetry Tumble, started from one line of a special poem by a special poet. From that point I took the last line of my poem and made it the first line of another poem, not as a story continuation, but a new poem that stands alone. To see whose poem I borrowed (with permission) a line from — and to read the entire collection in order, click on Poetry Tumble tab at the top of the blog.

Corners Turned

turned its corners up,
he did
just like Mom once taught him

fold the long sides in,
fold the short sides in
lift each corner
squish the foil together

there! a little tray
for his fish sticks
just like Mom once taught him

there were no fish sticks
they must have left with Mom.
