Friday 5

Michelle at Poefusion offers 5 words each week, Friday 5, for us to ponder. Her five take me places I do not normally go. Why not participate with us? At least read where other minds went with the prompt.

Survival Tactic

Within theater of war
one ravished by malaria
yields to dreams
of more than mere woman’s touch,
as his survival tool
– his practiced cold –
gives way,
incalescence
toward one woman
– left behind –
takes hold

leaf by leaf
heart’s survival
becomes paramount.

NOTE: I added just two more stanzas to the incomplete poem for Monday Mural - True to Herself. Hope I didn’t disappoint.

I used the word theater in the same way you did, as in a war. In just a few words you sum up the tortured moments of a suffering man. I really like your poem.

Thank you, Christine, that use of theater was an immediate response.

Oh so romantic, inspite of the pains, very touching I thought. Thank you.

UL, i’m glad you found it so touching, thank you.

Tender and touching poetry. Melancholy. Nicely done!

Someday, Susan, I will figure out why I like to write so melancholy, it just comes when I get these prompts — but I don’t spend my days feeling like that all the time. Thanks, Susan.

Struggles of man/ war so well put. You have done such a nice job here. Keep up the good work.

Michelle, you are such the cheerleader to all of us, and your prompts are so great! War is on my mind lately.

    Excellent……how those words work!

Jo, thank you. I just plain love prompts, they bring stuff from me out of nowhere, it is great when someone feels the words seem to work well.
