Nonet, my first attempt
November 23, 2007 | Filed Under Poetry
Michelle Johnson of Poefiti and Poefusion, loves to introduce her readers to different poetry styles. This week it was a Nonet, nine lines: first line has nine syllables, each line then decreasing by one syllable. She will have an example up soon, but I had to try. I can’t wait to try again for something more poetic.
Self Defeatist
His mind sets itself up for a fall:
Go one step forward, two steps back
Take negative as gospel
Close and lock door, toss key
Open mouth to foot
hear only this:
dumb, dumber,
dumbest
me.

This is great Marcia. The self can be so cruel at times.

Thank you so much, Rose. Self is cruel when we let it be - or are too tired to fight it.
One is always cruelest to oneself. Your first attempt at the Nonet was very good. Keep up the good work.
Have a nice day.
Thanks, Michelle, it was fun to try.
The eyes are the windows to our souls, is that why I stare at the mirror so long? Thanks for the self reflection, well done with the Nonet!
Have a great day!

Scott, I’m glad you have a mirror to stare in so long… It’s wonderful to see our reflections.
