Friday 5 - Untitled

Michelle, thank you. Your Poefusion Friday 5 prompt today just jumped out at me. Such fun.

Before you read this poem, you may click here to see the two meanings of duple I combined as one for the second sentence. It may make more sense to you then, though basically it was “of two parts” (like double yolk) and “irrational rhythm” (in music).

Her five word prompt: duple scheme vintage harbor cease

Untitled (as in, I’m at a loss for a title)

Our hearts, once rational, single entities,
now duple, both in number and mindedness,
(or so the others say)
as we cast aside high rises with gold faucets
and 60 inch plasma screens
and restaurants with sun kissed door openers
and doors with white gloved handles

for vintage cottages with leaden faucets
and tattered screens
and home cooked meals with opened doors
and doors with handles built by sweating palms
of man once scheming grandeur.

Reality stepped in to stop construction,

but have you seen the view of the harbor?
It never ceases to warm our duple heart.

Love the contrast and the sense of doing what you want.

    Hope your weekend is grand.

Thanks, Brian, I think I was channeling a bit of our lives in this one, doing what we want, I mean.
