Behind the Scenes

One word reply,
will never be enough

for me…

Should you choose

yes
no
maybe

you have merely
shown me the last page.

I want to read your entire book.

Friday 5 – Me

Friday 5, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie
Dec 21 2007

Oh my, Michelle, your words brought out the worst in me today, grin. This was written in fun, with no attempt to do it with great meter or flow, just to goof around. And I, of course, know absolutely no one that fits the description given in the last line! This is fiction, well, the last line, anyway.

Michelle’s five words and theme for today:

sanitary — fuselage — ache — paste — pardon

Theme: It’s Unlike Me

Me List

Unsanitary is for others who are not me,
I prefer paper towels ready by the door

No plane’s fuselage should be beneath my feet
nor stairs lowered for my ascent

back and ache do not compute
I’ve better things to whine about

cut or paste with flour and water
have been replaced with command C and V

I beg your pardon said with grace
has been replaced with:

I beg YOUR PARDON, you straight laced #$%#&*I((!

Monday Mural – Winter Follows Spring

Monday Mural, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie
Dec 20 2007

Michelle of Poefusion finds the most interesting photos or paintings for prompts for Monday Mural. I would bet you will never figure out what the prompt for this was. Check it out here! Can you see how I got these words from that picture? I hope so, but I bet you see something different. Why not write it down and play along?

Winter Follows Spring

One good turn
deserved another,
and Jacob
held tight to his resolve

to help
Justin win the girl
they
both
loved.

It was going to be
a long winter.

Friday 5 – Bob

Friday 5, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie
Dec 20 2007

Yes, this is almost a week late, but I just got to the meme and could not resist the words Michelle of Poefusion chose. She always throws something in to make it both interesting and difficult, but for those who cannot resist the challenge, magic happens, we usually manage to fit all five words together and make sense. I say magic, but it can be work, especially since Michelle has now added a theme to the mix!

hinge — bite — conch — gatekeeper — Charybdis

Theme: Only Once

Bob

His legs unfurled more like
one rusty hinge forced to go
in two directions at once
than with the grace of a purebred.

His bite was no worse than his bark,
one cruel to the flesh,
the other cruel to the ear

He no longer entertained children
as he raced toward one bird
after another all afternoon,
but rather showed the second
side of life’s comedy tragedy mask
as he stumbled on a conch
washed by the tide and feebly
pounced on it in a last hurrah,
only to nose it, then limp off,
unheard over the breakers.

Once like Charybdis,
today only, he headed
for the gatekeeper.

Titled by Leon, because I was at a loss again.

A new Friday 5 will be posted in the next day or two, I have to get back on track.

Daily Lives: Missed Opportunities, Part 1

3WW, Linked, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie
Dec 19 2007

Bone has moved 3WW to Wordpress! Today’s words are:

clumsy — fire — overlooked

I have a feeling the writers will come up with some interesting posts with those three words. Check them out here: 3WW

Missed Opportunities, Part 1

He was so clumsy about women
(and life in general)
he overlooked
fire dancing in her eyes
and saw only boredom
on her unsmiling face.

She was so focused on
baby’s drool
she had merely flicked
off her shoulder
as she rushed toward work,
she never felt the
fire in her own eyes.
