Monday Mural - Another Marriage
December 10, 2007 | Filed Under Monday Mural, Poetry
This is last week’s. I wrote it late and forgot to post it. The mural Michelle chose was wonderful, so if you haven’t seen it yet and want to read how the mural worked its way into the heart and souls of other writers, click here to find out!
Another Marriage
It will be the marriage of two cultures
that makes them strong
as they wander city streets
not paved with gold
but the stench of heated asphalt.
Hand in hand they speak comfortably
in old tongues sprinkled with new,
sorting memories infused with dank heat
and flooding rain, with bright sun
and blue skies.
They will make room for new memories
of feet on hardened concrete or sliding
across layers of ice, of streets shaded
not by trees but concrete monoliths.
At first, that marriage will be like
so many others,
love and hate
of both old and new,
until comfortable in themselves
they embrace the best of both.

Perfection. What a wonderful idea to use marriage as the element that binds yesterday and today. Nice job. Keep up the good work. Have a nice day.
I have to admit I was quite excited that I made the connection of marriage. Thanks, Michelle.
Thank you for getting the word out about that artwork (Monday Mural) for me. I hope something can come of it because I really like that painting.
I also wanted to say you have been tagged by me to create a poem which involves seven things about you.
Have a nice night.
Michelle, you are welcome. I did send that email to the woman in Albuquerque, too. I did do the seven things, definitely not up to how well you did yours, but I got it done, will post today. Thanks for the tag!
