3WW - Not Just a Fairy Tale

January 16, 2008 | Filed Under 3WW, Poetry

Bone offered us three simple words this week, so simple they were way too much fun to play with. I know, you can tell this was written in quick spurts between one page scanned or faxed or another…. but work must go on. (And so must our personal enjoyment - and obsessions.) So, check out the other participants… put your feet up after reading mine and click here. It is no telling where you will be sent!

Awkward - Kitchen - Obsessed
Not Just a Fairy Tale

She was an awkward child,
a wayward cook as an adult

He envisions this self conversation:

What kitchen?

Oh, THAT kitchen,
the one from which food

magically appears.

as he watches her face change
from confusion
to angelic gleam.

Breakfast in bed on his birthday
would have been deemed a simple request
by most.

But…
for
him to ask;
for
her to actually turn and walk toward
that room,
just adds further credence:

one (or two) can still
be obsessed by love,

it is not just a fairy tale.

Very sweet! I agree, breakfast in bed is a true gift, especially when the cook isn’t that skilled in culinary arts.

Christine, it is a true gift when they aren’t skilled, but I sure hope whoever makes my breakfast in bed has a bit of skill.

Glad you didn’t see it coming, Susan. Thank you.

Isn’t so nice, to have maid service and a cook? Ahhh, the life of luxury along the coast. ;)

This was cute Marcia! :) I like that idea… that heading towards the kitchen proves love.

Aww, what a sweet story and a wonderful sentiment. That would mean a hundred times more to me than a meal from the world’s greatest cook.
