Repose
In repose,
she appears at a casual
glance to passersby,
her lips of scalding red
laid gently closed
as if with no effortEnmeshed in sadness
she appears on closer examination;
her eyes, twilight blue
lined in sea glass green,
chose to share
that truth.In mass chaos,
a telepathic
would discover
if only one were nearby
to unravel
even
one
thread
to find the
happiness
entrapped
in
her sorrow
lost
in mind’s chaos.MeeAugraphie

it is always there somewhere isn’t it??? somewhere… very lovely thought and presentation….
Thank you, Paisley…. it is always there, but some days it seems to be like twenty thin gold necklaces tossed around for days into
an impossible mess to unravel.
Like Paisley, I like this especially this part :
to unravel
even
one
thread
to find the
happiness
entrapped
in
her sorrow
and your descriptions works really well with the image.
Thank you, Lissa, that was my favorite part of the poem. I have to work on descriptions, so thank you, I usually forget them, as I am lost in the emotions.
The starting stanza leads way into my favorite line to unravel
even

to find the

her sorrow at the end of this poem. I have to wonder though. Does anyone get close enough to another person to really see what sorrow they carry? Or, do they even want to know? Thanks for sharing such a thought provoking piece. Have a nice day.
Michelle, I think they do… not often, but. I think someone who is more instinctive than another can feel it. Thank you.
Lovely poem. Is there happiness in sorrow? I suppose there must be - even if it’s only people being happy being sorrowful.
I have heard some find happiness in it, I was referring more to underlying happiness, but I know some people seem to just thrive to a point in sorrow… and as wonky as it seems, there are times I enjoy pensive or relatively sad poems….
I was interested in your poem’s idea of unravelling to find happiness. I’ve written about re-winding from Hamlet’s perspective.
hello mee.. found this a fasinating pix that michelle picked this week… in the colors and her pose.. so in turn your description of her existence in colors is perfect.. for me it was the last line in each stanza that brought it in for a landing.. i have always enjoyed yr poetry and the images conveyed…
This is wonderful! You create a sense of a woman’s isolation in her insanity. Well done!
Christine, thank you! I’m afraid it has been a bit too real on occasion over the years.
