Friday Five - Untitled

March 28, 2008 | Filed Under Friday 5, Poetry

Michelle at Poefusion chose these five words for us. I am late, but it is still Friday, or will be, if I can get my computer to stop acting weird: fling - cranberry - winsome - prey - quacky

23:15:00 Begin

23: 20:27 finally confirmed a word definition

23:20:50 Really begin:

My mind, quacky as always,
tried to fling words
as a child would fling a cranberry
across the porch
while stringing them on garlands
(when no one was looking of course -
over the age of 13)

but my muse fought to remain winsome,
after all so much had interfered with my
perfect birthday weekend:

work, and thoughts unbecoming a cheerful person
chose that special time to prey
on the fewer muscles that controlled the smile
and weakened them,

and so I relied on my skill

at writing words
of melancholy and sadness,

but they seemed reluctant
to participate.

And so, by default, smile took over

and I cannot help but grin at this
pathetic attempt at Friday Five….

23:31:10 End

Note: 23:38:38 - Just got it copied and pasted and link in, took me all that time to figure out it was acting weird because I switched browsers tonight… hmmm. Who knows what will happen when I click Publish….

well,, it left me with a smile on my face!!!! so i guess it did its job after all……

Success, unintentional on my part, but your smile made me smile again, too. Thanks, Paisley.

I’m impressed - you managed that in record time, scored a success and created more than one smile! Nifty!

You’ve roused a smile from me as well. Most of my day was bad too. So, your poem was a nice lift-me-up. Have a nice weekend.
