Nightmare Poem, a Bout- Rime

Ay, yi, yi. Michelle of Poefusion fame made me work a bit tonight. This did for the most partjust pour out of my strange brain, but it also took a bit of concentrated thinking midstream a time or two. This is just pure fun playing with poetry after a long, pleasant, but tiring day. Oh, the prompt! Michelle gave us the last word in each line, we had to use them in the order given. Click here for complete instructions and to read the others!

Do it again, please, Michelle! I’ll try to be more serious! So, yes, I cheated a bit, a made up dream.

It was the yellow butterfly,
dancing above the kettle’s steam,
that muffled my cry,
in my latest night dream,

for before her, I saw braided golden hair,
floated across an acrid lake,
Frankenstein’s bride astride a pregnant mare,
shouting, “I’m late, I’m late

for a most important test,
I must now within create —
from this untidy mess,
a sonnet both loquacious and sedate.”

And she launched a scheme,
to throw me from my chair of wicker.

  3. Marcia, I love this one. I absolutely love the line of Frankenstein’s bride riding on a pregnant mare. What beautiful images you have evoked. Your tale was very clever and fun to read. Have a nice day.

A fun ride, a joy ride! It has been fun to wee what everyone has done with these end words. We have all gone off on some strange tangents. Yours works well! You have poetic license to let your bride of Frankenstein do whatever she wants!
