3WW - Word Power

April 23, 2008 | Filed Under 3WW, NaPoWriMo, Poetry

Three Word Wednesday rocks! Look at the words Bone chose: Picture - Reflected - Stop. Are they not the coolest ever? OOPS, left our “stop”, too bad, I love it the way it is! And this one, I wrote it, and then inserted the next to the last stanza in pieces between the others. Guess you could say, I actually edited some….

Word Power

She found herself fascinated
with life reflected through words
(hers and theirs)

Each decision revealed
leaped from the page
replayed in her head
she fretted or rejoiced
as if her own

(Her mind became a scary place
as each decision begged to be retried)

Each emotion wafted
from the page
became hers
entwined in her own
within her heart

(Her heart stretched and sagged
as each stored emotion jockeyed for air time)

Each picture created
whether in technicolor,
black and white,
or faded vision,
burned into her soul

(Her soul’s canvas was at near capacity
of painted tattooed visions)

She found herself  fascinated
with life reflected through words
(hers and theirs)
… and told her
mind, heart, and soul,

“Deal with it!”

words do have a strong impact on people. it can make you laugh, smile, smirk or cry. i think it is a writer’s hope that his/her words are understood and shared by his/her readers.

Great job, Marcia~ I think every writer has many words tangled inside their heads and they have to find a way to plead them out. Thanks for sharing this with everyone. Have a nice day.

I think you have come up with the perfect poetry to describe a ‘meme’. “(E)ach decision begged to be retried,” One idea spawns another until the original is totally changed. Wonderful.

    Marcia,
For certain words make all the difference. I compose my greatest verbage while running but to capture and put it down on paper at the end is the greatest challenge.

Absolutely fantastic!!! Wonderful writing - I can’t get over the strong image of a heart stretching and sagging. WoW. The pacing, emotive content and visual art references weaved a rich tapestry of a poem! thanks for sharing with 3WW.

This could almost be a mini drama script with all the asides. But the grand finale “deal with it” is awesome.
