Muse Versus Adult Me

Muse Versus Adult Me

I do not, for now, spout poetic words
or allow fiction to pour from my Muse

Halt! I said, one day last month,
I must redevelop my habits of work
for you replaced them years ago
(with my permission
and his, mostly, too)

And then change came
as it often does
and work called and I applied
with joy and intention,
my attentions to my task, but

Muse
strengthened by habits set
jumped in at will
to spout her words in poetry,
her posts of everyday life and dreams
and work attention waned,
and so,

Halt! I said, one day last month,
I must redevelop my habits of work
for you replaced them years ago,
(with my permission
and his, mostly, too)

but this time I meant it

for now.

i am just the opposite… i have worked full time my whole life,, and held a job since i was 15… after 32 years,, i am sooo over work.. i would sit here and muse 24/7,, if i could figure out how……..

Don’t get me wrong, Paisley, I pretty much have been doing the 24/7 muse thing for years, but our future depends on our new business, so Adult me HAD to come forward, should have done a better job of it months ago. The idea was six months a year we wouldn’t have to work at all, so I could muse to my heart’s content, but it “ain’t” working that way yet!

I feel guilty for relaxing the weekend away, but I have no energy anymore.

I like the little internal rhyme. (intention, attention)

Isn’t there a gray area here? A happy medium? Both reality and the muse must have their way.
