Writers Island chose these prompts: “Triumph” and “Survivor”. I felt like experimenting. Written 04/22/08 by MeeAugraphie.
Survival, Of
Survive to conquer
hear the rousting cheers
Survive to coexist
hear heartbeats quicken
Which is the more triumphant?
Where will you be?
I have made my choice
Give and take, take and give
You have made yours
command and rule, rule and command.
See ‘ya.

Dare I?
Abstracted world
stands a bit askew
for
monoliths of strength
hide giants teetering
while
highlighted vision
foretells blaring obsession
as
ominous sky
grounds flight of fancy
for all
but those who dare….

Writers Island’s prompts were Destiny and Rising, I chose the latter… rising temper was the first thing I thought of. I know… so many other choices!
Temper
Her mood,
once ebbed,
rose to meet his
and
cyclone met hurricane
though no rain fell
for the inflamed
tempers evaporated it
before it fell…
Hot time in the old town tonight
though no mud was slung.
Perhaps, tomorrow,
rain will return to mix with
the fallout
and mudslinging can resume
as normal

OOPS, I could not resist trying the other prompt…
Destiny
Your destiny is not mine
unless I so choose to create my own
as a clone of yours
and though yours might seem enticing
to the naked eye,
what I can create on my own
is more enticing to my heart.

was it magic or destiny
that such diverse paths touched,
crossed
without
either one swallowing the other?
no matter,
Thought said,
perhaps
humans
could create their own
magic:
allow others’ destinies
to blend with their own
without
opening their mouths
to swallow.

Writers Island had a wonderful prompt today. “Over the Horizon”. This is not at all what I thought I would write, that makes it somewhat ironic, the title, don’t you think? Find links to what others found over the horizon here.
Change
Change comes in its own peculiar ways:
smacks me in the face
should I look the other way
in an attempt to ignore
(wrinkles)
chases from behind
screaming expletives
as I run away
(responsibility)
bribes me with
money and future islands
in the snow
(work)
cuddles me in arms
that lift less weight
than in their youth
(love)
yet it never ceases to entice me
to peek over the horizon.
