09. Good Day Find
br>
One can only hope
their day gets better
though, if truth were told,
should they remember
to force a smile or two,
to put one step forward
toward recovering their losses
toward cementing a moment’s peace
in their heart
it would not be hope needed
quite as much as
determination
after realization of
who really
controls one’s own happiness.

07. Revenge of a Woman
br>
of conscious thought
her words were born
by deliberate means
cruel action done
for specific use
(her personal gain)
… had only she
foreseen its cost

08. Appearances – Lost and Found
Foreseen its cost?
I think not.
Neither had dared examine hearts
nor weigh future versus past
for survival of appearances,
high profile man, trophy wife,
had gained a stronghold on their life
And the children went without nothing – material
Neither had dared share dreams pent up
nor weigh humanity versus mannequin
for survival of appearances,
ladder climbed, woman’s beauty flaunted,
had gained a stronghold on their life
And the children learned to climb and paint
Neither had dared test ladder’s construction
nor weigh side effects of repeated surgery
and demise of appearances,
ladder pulled out, trophy tarnished beyond repair,
had gained a stronghold on their life
And the children learned their lesson?
One can only hope.

Poetry Tumble, Too continues:
Just Be
br>
if only so we, too, can follow along
may you sing your joy
may you warm a heart
may you stretch your dreams
may you increase your wisdom
may you shed your tears
may you bend to help
may you set high goals
may you remember
to just be.

04. Heart Rebuilding
br>
the rebuilding of a heart
bears watching
for it progresses much as this:
a cool breeze tickles your cheek
in the midst of a never ending summer
a pile of blocks strewn about pulls you back
to the castle they once were at age four
the moment you think there is no more
yet another bite of chocolate remains
you turn the corner and he is there
turning the corner and you are there
the catch in your heart as you view
a hawk swooping down from the sky
the promise of a future kiss
the first bumbled attempt already replaced
the rebuilding of a heart
bears watching
if only so we, too, can follow along.

I continue my Poetry Tumble Too, where my last line becomes the first line of the next poem (and often quite unrelated in thought).
03. Focused
br>
to join her team
she must swallow her pride…
open her mind…
distract her heart…
focus on the goal at hand…
and all that can come
only after she has insured
her mask of smiles will remain intact
throughout her jog.
Through an arched tunnel,
where memories of high fives
stolen kisses
and perceived connection
still adorn darkened walls,
to push one foot forward
after the other
will be a strain
for each step will take her
farther from what was
and toward what is:
the limelight of shattered relationships,
the domain of gossip’s corner,
the billowed curtain of self-doubt,
the flooded pillow of tears
the rebuilding of a heart.
