Stood Up!
When Fairy Godmother failed to show
she bowed her mouth and twisted her toe
knowing the day would be a bit slow
now that she had no horn to blow
no river to rage and overflow
no flowers to tend or lawn to mow
no handsome stranger to be her beauand no new dreams to pack and stow….

I know this seems silly (the next words, not the poem…). When I start thinking in rhyme, I know Adult Muse has gone on hiatus and Child Muse is trying to fill in. It is not that I don’t like rhymed poetry, in fact, I do, but free flowing emotional words in non-structured form are my all time, please, never go away, first choice!
Someone asked where I had been… haiku and senryu pouring onto Twitter….
After American Idol tonight (and I did miss having Allison there! I’m listening to her and to Adam now.) I sat down to write why music brings tears to my eyes when it is either played or performed well; why sometimes it overwhelms me in joy or sadness, why it controls the controller. I’ve never been able to express it – and I don’t think I did this time either… Not into poetry, click down to the videos below, I love them, one is calming, one filled with real life emotion.
Music History
br>It is my history,
music played or sung well
takes hold of my
emotions
has its way
leaves me spentmatters not
joy, sadness, apathy
it all pulls tugs jerks
surrounds tightens expels
captures then discards my soul,I am saddled by knowledge
my world is incomplete
without musician/singers
for
such sounds will
never
float hammer spout
shout fall cascade from
my
vocal chords
fingertips lungs….could that be why
so many days
I sit in silence,
shoulder TV’s distant drone?
why once music breaks through
it is allowed to repeat
until my eyes refuse to follow
commands of heart?why I
can not
form words to express
music’s power
to charm heat escalate
cajole calm support my soul?MeeAuraphie

Prompt: Michelle at Poefusion reminded that Poetry.org suggested we carry a favorite poem with us and share. Since I had not yet written a poem for this blog today, I set out to write something extremely short that would mean something to me today, rather than just search through so many favored poems. The word “Heart” sprung to my head. I will share it with someone around me today, I’m sure.
Thank you, Michelle, for so many great prompts this month (and always).
