Endless Rain and Paperclips

Please,

Cold,
Infiltrate

Not

Ladder to Success

Ladder to Success

He climbed the well trod
ladder to success
to find
only dank air
and putrid sky

In disbelief,
he looked below
to see
scattered remains
of broken lives

mixed they were with
pleasures missed
relationships crushed
a route to heart
not taken

his mind,
always quick
(in certain matters, only, it appears)
registered three choices

leap as if a lover’s mountain,
end it all right there

wrap himself in fancy toys,
search for the next flight up

descend the ladder,
start again with goals of heart instead

one was not an option
two pulled at what he knew
three seemed nigh impossible

so he held his head within his hands
and waited for the dawn.

A Poem

Life balance, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie

A Poem

A poem, I might suggest,

is meant to be written
in the manner
a writer desires,

is meant to be interpreted
at its reader’s sole
discretion

And whether, by chance,
writer and reader are
one and the same – or two

or whether, one finds,
their views marry
or declare incompatibility

each poem offers possibilities
found only through
an exchange of thought…

be it between self or two.

Life Miss-staged

Friday 5, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie

Life Miss-staged

ramrod straight
they stood,
column unbroken,
with their
eyes riveted
straight ahead…
i.d. made,
cuffs applied
bail denied
door closed.

Michelle at Poefusion picked five words for us to use our creativity with. Tonight I did not have the presence of mind to use the words exactly; I do believe Michelle stumped Muse for a few minutes, grin. I had to give Muse permission to use the words however she liked, so a few changes were made, but that’s OK. It was fun. The original five words were: ram riveted bail break column.

Melancholy Regret – Hodgepodge

Life balance, Poetry | Posted by MeeAugraphie
Apr 23 2009

Today was a tad stressful, but had some great moments at the same time – and certainly ended well.

The Writer’s Digest Poetic Asides Prompt today was regret and I regret I put it off until so late at night, but I posted an acrostic there and was happy with it, but I had first written two verses of an untitled one I chose not to use:

The Letter

we deeply regret,
the letter began
and she put her head
into her hands

she didn’t bother
reading more
just packed her bags
then closed the door

And then I wrote another Acrostic, somedays, they really appeal to me:

Regret

Recession found
Equality denied
Grants revoked
Residuals lost
Emotions flogged
Tempers flared

And then I asked Leon to give me three words and wrote:

Rained In

he brings me
cabbage soup
to warm my soul

while storm rages
outside our door

beach bothers not
to fight back as
waves pull sand
out to sea

I wonder
if my heart
will wash away

when there is
no more cabbage soup
delivered

The three words: storm beach cabbage.
